Frequently Asked Questions
What is milia and how do I get rid of it?
Milia are small, hard white cysts that form when dead skin cells become trapped beneath the skin's surface, often around the eye area and cheeks. Unlike blackheads, they are not caused by clogged pores with sebum. Regular use of chemical exfoliants like retinol or AHAs can help prevent and gradually dissolve milia. Stubborn milia should be professionally removed by a dermatologist or esthetician — squeezing them at home can cause scarring.
Can you use vitamin C and retinol together?
The easiest approach is to split them: use vitamin C in the morning for antioxidant support under sunscreen, and retinol at night when skin repairs. They can be layered in the same routine, but combining two potent actives raises the odds of irritation for many people. Beginners especially do better alternating them until skin is comfortable with each on its own.
